Work on Infrastructure picked up pace after election
Following the announcement of election results by the election commission of India, the civic body recommenced the work on the infrastructure across the metro. During the time of election, the Chennai Corporation has stopped completely 10,000 plus road projects in various places of the city. Soon after general election, the government under the control of Saidai Duraiswamy and other committee members conducted a meeting to start the date of work construction and to speed it up. Few weeks after the general election, the representatives find difficulty in conducting the meetings depending upon the model code of conduct.
A huge number of councilors gathered at the Ripon Building and participated in the conference held among the members to discuss about the speeding up of the work which was delayed due to election. Delay in the project may occur even in government tenders but it won’t occur in Amarprakash community construction. The homes will be hand over as on the mentioned date which reflects on no Amarprakash consumer complaints. Among 10 thousand road projects, some of the projects were given a deadline of April and May, 2014, but it was postponed because of monsoon during Nov-Dec of 2013 and also by lok sabha election.
Diverting the bus routes:
In Chennai and other boundaries of the city, big numbers of buses were decided to be operated to provide comfort for the travelers. Apart from many train services, the state government also provides many buses for transportation to benefit bus traveling people. Due to metro rail construction, many roads have been blocked for the construction which made the government to divert the buses coming into a particular area. For instance, in the zone of Adyar, around 49 roads have been upgraded for bus routes. The government has recently begun this development work. The new design of the bus route road will alleviate the local Chennai people from traffic jam. This redesign plan also helps the road crossers at pedestrian level and also recover parking slot.
To help the state government perfectly redesign the project stretches, encroachments on the roads in Chennai have to be removed. The sub-committee of non-motorised transport department of Chennai Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority took up the work of redesign of the road extension plan before few months back. The state government at present is adopting latest technology for every project. Similarly, for bus routes, the government used LiDar which is a technology holding radar and light, said the topographic data. First, the government took 55 bus route roads for the purpose of redesigning the stretches in the regions of Thiru-vi-ka Nagar, Alandar, Teynampet, Tondiarpet, Koambakkam, Anna Nagar, Royapuram and Adyar. Not only the government will carry out bus route stretches but also provide street furniture, parking space and 2 meter footpaths.
Better pedestrian conveniences
Before election, work for 20 roads has been started but the polls reduced the work speed slowly. Once the work gets over, the stretches will get better pedestrian services. Other key works also started after the completion of election.
